The Qibla angle for your location is ° from true north. If you would like to find the Qibla direction using a magnetic compass, follow these steps:
- First, place or hold your compass horizontally in an area away from magnetic fields and large metal objects.
- Turn the compass until the red end of the compass needle points to N (North).
- When the compass needle is aligned with N, start from N (North) and move clockwise until you reach ° on the compass.
- The direction indicated by this degree is your Qibla direction.
- Because magnetic north and true north are not the same, the Qibla degree used with a magnetic compass may differ from the Qibla angle calculated from true north. The angle between true north and magnetic north is called magnetic declination.
For the live Qibla compass to work, your phone must have a compass (direction) sensor and location services must be enabled. To use the Qibla compass, tap the “START QIBLA COMPASS” button and allow kiblebulma.com to access your device’s motion and orientation when prompted. Hold your phone flat and parallel to the ground, then slowly turn it to the right or left. When the QIBLA arrow aligns with the marker at the top, the screen will turn green. The direction the top of your phone is pointing is your Qibla direction. If your phone does not have a compass sensor, you can use the Qibla line shown on the map to find your Qibla direction.
Your phone’s compass can be affected by nearby magnetic fields and metal objects, causing it to show an incorrect or unstable direction. Magnetic phone cases, car phone mounts, speakers, electronic devices, metal tables and other metal surfaces can interfere with the compass sensor. An incorrectly calibrated compass sensor or holding your phone in the wrong position can also cause the Qibla direction to appear inaccurate.
If this happens, move your phone away from magnetic and metal objects and remove any magnetic phone case. If necessary, try recalibrating the compass sensor by moving your phone through a figure-eight pattern several times. Then hold your phone flat and parallel to the ground and try the Qibla compass again. You can also check the result using the Qibla line shown on the map.
If your phone compass shows an incorrect or unstable direction, the compass sensor may need to be recalibrated. First, move away from objects that may interfere with the compass, such as magnetic phone cases, speakers, metal surfaces and electronic devices. Hold your phone in your hand and move it through a figure-eight pattern several times. Then hold the phone flat and parallel to the ground and try the Qibla compass again.
Your Qibla direction changes depending on your location, so the live Qibla compass needs your location to calculate the correct Qibla direction and Qibla compass degree. When you allow location access, your current coordinates are determined and the Qibla direction from your location to the Kaaba is calculated.
If the Qibla compass does not work after you tap START QIBLA COMPASS, first make sure your phone’s location services are enabled and that you have granted the permissions requested by kiblebulma.com. Your phone must also support a compass (direction) sensor for the live Qibla compass to work. If your phone does not have a compass sensor, or your browser cannot access the device’s motion and orientation data, the live Qibla compass may not work. In this case, use the FIND QIBLA WITH MAP section and follow the Qibla line on the map to determine your Qibla direction.
You can find the Qibla direction using a compass, Qibla time, online maps, your mobile phone, or the Qibla orientation of nearby mosques. For more detailed information about these methods, see the answers to the questions below.
The Qibla direction, or Qibla side, depends on your location in the world and always points toward the Kaaba in Mecca. You can find the exact Qibla direction and Qibla compass degree for your current location using the live Qibla compass or online map.

For a Qibla finder app or online Qibla compass to work properly, your phone must have a compass sensor and location services must be enabled. This allows the compass to determine your Qibla direction and Qibla angle based on your current location.
To find the Qibla direction with a compass, you first need to know the Qibla compass degree for your location. Since magnetic fields and metal objects can affect the compass needle, keep the compass away from such objects and hold it flat and parallel to the ground.
The colored end of the compass needle points north. Turn the compass until the colored end of the needle aligns with the N (North) mark on the compass dial. Then, starting from N (North), move clockwise around the dial until you reach the Qibla compass degree for your location. The direction indicated by that degree is your Qibla direction.
Qibla time is a practical and reliable method of determining the Qibla direction using the sun as a reference. When you face the sun at the Qibla time for your location, you are facing the Qibla.
Qibla time varies depending on your location and the date. You can find the Qibla time for your location in reliable prayer time calendars or on websites that provide this information.
You can find the Qibla direction from your location without downloading an app by using an online map based on Google Maps. The Qibla line between your location and the Kaaba in Mecca shows your Qibla side and the direction you need to face.

You can zoom in on the map around your home, workplace, or building and use nearby buildings, roads, and other fixed landmarks as reference points. You can also use the Qibla direction of nearby mosques and prayer spaces as a reference.
You can determine the Qibla direction by looking at the orientation of a nearby mosque. Since mosques are built to face the Qibla, the mihrab and Qibla wall indicate the direction of the Kaaba. In some mosques, a mihrab that projects outward from the Qibla wall can also help you identify the Qibla direction from outside.
In Muslim cemeteries, the deceased are traditionally buried with their faces turned toward the Qibla. Therefore, a Muslim cemetery that is known to follow the Qibla orientation can also provide a useful indication of the Qibla direction. However, burial layouts and local practices may vary, so this method should be used only as a supporting reference rather than as a precise measurement.
